It is required to construct a big rectangular hall to accommodate 500 persons, allowing 22.5 m space per person. The height of the hall is to be kept at 7.5 m, while the total inner surface area of the walls must be 1200 m². Then the length and breadth of the hall respectively are :​

height = 7.5 m

total inner surface area of the walls must be 1200 m².

To Find :  length and breadth of the hall

Solution:

length = L

Breadth = B

Height = 7.5 m

Volume = 7.5LB  

Volume = 500 * 22.5

Equate both

=> 7.5LB = 500 * 22.5

=> LB = 1500  

total inner surface area of the walls must be 1200 m².

=> 2( L + B) 7.5 = 1200

=> L + B = 80

L + B = 80

LB = 1500

L and B  are 50 and  30  

length and breadth of the hall   are 50 and 30 m
