It is required to reduce the volume
e the volume of a gas by 20% by compressing it at a constant pressure. To do so, the
gas has to be cooled. If the gas attains a final temperature of 157°C, find the initial temperature of the gas? please solve this

Explanation:

let the initial volume is V1=100V

If the volume is reduced by 20% therefore it becomes... V2=100V--20V =80V

here given

initial temperature is T1=T

final temperature is =T2=157+273=430K

therefore according to Charles law.,

 \frac{v1}{t1}  =  \frac{v2}{t2}

NOW

 \frac{100}{t1}  =  \frac{80}{430}

therfore \:  \:  \\  \\ t1 =  \frac{100 \times 430}{80}  =  \frac{43000}{80}

t1 =  \frac{4300}{8}  = 537.5 \: kelvin

hence the final temperature is 537.5 K. or 300K
