It is stated that Ajeyaraja broke free from the Gurjara- Pratihata dynasty and established the Chauhan dynasty in the 12th century CE. However, it is also stated that the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty was split up into several states in 950 CE and was taken over by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1015 century CE. How is that possible? Please help me! I will mark as brainliest.

It may be possible .....
because Pratiharas are also called gurjara-pratiharas because they originated from gujarat. pratiharas emerged five kingdoms in which one was chauhans of Rajasthan.
After,Mahmud ghazni invaded india not to rule our india but to plunder india to make his kingdom ghazni more better .He didnt take any states and rule over it.
