After the digestion of food, the absorption of food occurs in small intestine. Reason: ... The presence of Villi gives the inner walls of small intestine greater surface area which helps in rapid absorption of food.

Absorption mainly occurs in the small intestine because small intestine contains finger like structure usually called as Villi.

Villi increases the surface area of absorption and hence make the absorption of food easier.

Therefore absorption of digested food is mainly occurs in small intestine.
