It is well said, 'Exceptions are everywhere'. Here are some general statements. Give one exception

for each statement.

(i) Metals are lustrous.

(ii) Metals are solids at room temperature.

(iii) Metals have high melting points.

(iv) Non - metals are non - lustrous.

(v) Non - metals are insulators or non - conductors of electricity.​

Some Exceptions -

  1. Potassium and Lead are fine examples of non-lustrous metals.
  2. Mercury although a metal, is liquid at room temperature.
  3. Aluminum has a low melting point.
  4. Examples of lustrous non-metals would be Iodine and Carbon. It can be observed that Carbon is lustrous only in certain forms like diamond.
  5. Graphite is a non-metal that is both a good conductor of heat and electricity.
