Answer:

Satyagraha or Civil Disobedience movement adopted by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an act of passive resistance against the British rule in India.

Although it could not bring independence to India but it shook the fundament of the British Empire.

On the anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar where hundreds of unarmed Indian protestors were gunned down by the British soldiers, Mahatma Gandhi scooped up a handful of mud at a beach and boiled it in the seawater to produce illegal salt as a means of protest.

This led to the arrest of an estimated 60,000-100,000 satyagrahis.
