Given equation

6^{2} -8x-8=0

Solving, we get,

6^{2} -8x-8=0\\

\implies 36 - 8x-8=0

\implies -8x-8=-36

(While transposing a number from LHS to RHS or vice-versa, the sign of the number changes)

\implies -8x=-36+8

\implies -8x=-24

\implies x = \dfrac{24}{8}

(Negative signs are cancelled on either sides)

\implies x = 3

\boxed{\boxed{\bold{Therefore, \ the \ value \ of \ x \ is \ 3}}}}}
