The narrator was sent to the ouija party with the sole purpose of persuading the people to stop the use of the Ouija board in exchange for the ghost's help in writing his story. The ghost, Helen, was busy answering the questions asked.
The ghost started asking about the narrator from different ouija boards. The narrator could help but give a sly smile due to his twitching problem which made his wife and other women from the book club feel that he had been cheating on his wife. As a result, his wife became upset.
The narrator blamed the ghost for ruining his happiness by upsetting his wife.
