Answer!!

Heat:-

It is a qualifying round to go to the next round in races (sprint). It is given when the number of athletes is large. They are grouped into various heats and according to their performance in heat they reach to the next round.

Types of crouch start:-

Bunch:- In this start, the distance between the blocks is 8 to 10 inches and the rear block is approximately 20 inches away from the starting line. The athlete bends on a block in such a manner that the fingers form a bridge behind the starting line. When the 'set position' is ordered, hips are raised upwards. This position is unstable but very helpful to take a quick start.

Medium start:- In the start, distance between the two blocks is 12 to 18 inches and the distance between the first block and the starting line is 15 inches. The shoulders and the hips are almost at the same height.

Elongated start:- In this start, the distance between the two blocks is between 20 to 28 inches. This start is good for athletes.

(Note:- Crouch start is only for sprints.)
