The Harappan civilisation was seen in the outskirts of the city of Vaishali in Bihar. But it has yet to be proved whether there was any kind of link between the Harappan civilisation and Bihar.

There have been certain findings from the Mesolithic times which have been seen in the Munger districts. There have been paintings from the pre-historic times which have been found in Nawada and Jamui. These paintings are similar to the ones found in Southern India and Central India.
