 { \sin(x) }^{4}  -  { \cos(x) }^{4}  =  {k}^{4}

If we use,

 {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  = (a + b)(a - b)

Then we get,

( { \sin( \alpha ) }^{2}  -   { \cos( \alpha ) }^{2} )( { \sin( \alpha ) }^{2}  +  { \cos( \alpha ) }^{2} ) =  {k}^{4}

Now,

 { \sin( \alpha ) }^{2}   +  { \cos( \alpha ) }^{2}  = 1

So we get,

 { \sin( \alpha ) }^{2}  -  { \cos( \alpha ) }^{2}  =  {k}^{4}
