Step-by-step explanation:

Required Formula:

Time = Distance/Time

Let the distance between home and school be denoted as “d” meter.

It is given that

The speed while going from home to school = 30 m/minutes

And,

The speed while going from school back to home = 45 m/minutes

So, based on the above formula, we get

The time taken to go from home to the school, t1 = (d/30 ) minutes

And

The time taken to go from school back to home, t2 = (d/45) minutes

∴ The total time for the entire journey will be

= t1 + t2

= d/30 + d/45

= [30+45] / [30*45]

= 5d/90

= (d/18) minute s

But the total time to walk from home to school and back home again is given as less than or equal to 30 mins.

∴ (d/18) ≤ 30

i.e. d ≤ 18 x 30 ≤ 540 metres

Thus, the distance between home and school is 540 meters.
