Given :

  • \textsf{Rate of flow of water = }\displaystyle {\sf{\frac{50\: litres }{per\:minute }}}
  • \textsf{Time taken to fill the tank} = \sf{40\: hours}

To Find :

  • Volume of the reservoir.

Formula Applied :

\displaystyle{\sf{Volume\:of\:reservoir = Rate\:Of \:flow\:of\:water \times Time\:taken}}

Solution :

  • The volume of tank in litres can be found by using the converted formula of Speed of Liquid substances. Before substituting the values in formula we have to change Time taken from hours to minutes.

{\:\:\:\:\: \underline{\boxed{\sf{1\:hour = 60\:minutes}}}}

\implies \sf{40\:hours = 40 \times 60 \: minutes}

\implies \sf{time\:taken = 2400\:minutes}

  • Now substitute all the values in the given formula.

\displaystyle{\sf{Volume\:of\:reservoir = Rate\:Of \:flow\:of\:water \times Time\:taken}}

\implies \sf{50 \times 2400 }

\implies \sf{1,20,000}

Required Answer :

Volume of the cuboidal reservoir is \underline{\sf{1,20,000\:litres }}
