in pressure cooker the pressure inside is greater then normal atmospheric pressure . hence Boiling point of water is also higher , i mean greater than 373 kelvin . subsequently heat content of steam is also higher . more heat content of steam reduces the cooking period

 In a pressure cooker, the temp. of water is much higher than 212 degrees F before it boils. Therefore, the food is cooked faster.
