Given

  • Speed= 12 mph
  • Time = 20 Minutes

To Find

  • What is jim's speed?

Solution

  • Time = 20 Minutes = 1/3 Hours

We know That,

 \boxed { \sf\: distance \:  =  \: speed \:  \times time}

 \implies\sf \: Distance= 12 ×  \dfrac{1}{3}

  •  \implies\sf \: Distance=4 \: miles

And Now put that distance into Jim's time

~~~~~~~~~~~~ \sf \: Time = 15 \: minutes \\~~~~~~~~~~~ \sf \: time =  \dfrac{1}{4}  \:  hour \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:
  •  \sf \: Distance= 4 \: miles
\implies \sf \: Speed= distance   \div  time
\implies\sf \: Speed= 4   \div   \frac{1}{4}
\implies\sf \: Speed= 4 \times 4
~~~~~~~~~\underline{\boxed{\sf \: Speed= 16 \: mph}}
