Since the resistance of the wire is doubled

Therefore the new resistance will be=6ohm+6ohm=12ohm

Answer:

1.5Ω

Explanation:

If a wire was doubled on itself :

  1. Length gets decreased to half its original.
  2. Area of cross section is doubled.

Now, given that original resistance is 6Ω, if its length was 'l' and area of cross section be 'A',

6Ω = (p)(l/A). - (1)

Now, new resistance 'R',

=> R = (p)(l/2)(1/2A)

=> R = (p)(l/4A)

=> R = 1/4(p)(l/A). - (2)

From (1) and (2),

=> R = 1/4(6Ω)

=> R = 6/4Ω

=> R= 1.5Ω

Thus, new resistance would be 1.5Ω.
