It was more of nightingale gullibility then the frogs scheming that led to her down fall and death as nightingale got easily influenced by the frog's words. She was a bird to be easily trapped and befooled. She trusted frog do easily and didn't believed on her own skills. Thus it was all her fault which led to her downfall and death.
