BECAUSE METALS WHEN COME IN CONTACT WITH DIFFERENT SUBSTANCES THEY REACT WITH THEM ( AIR , WATER) HENCE CHANGING THE REAL LUSTRE AND THE COLOUR OF METALS
THE EDGE OF A FREELY CUT PIECE METAL ROD HAS MORE LUSTRE BECAUSE IT IS NEW AND IT HAVEN'T REACTED WITH MANY OF THE SUBSTANCES IN THE ENVIRONMENT
WHEN IT BECOMES OLD ....THE LUSTRE WILL GET OVER
