What was in the lake?
It was really hot that day, so I went to my favourite lake. I was about to jump into the cool water, when a big splash in the middle of the lake sent ripples over the water. Something was in there. Something big. I jumped back, startled, and watched as a dolphin swam to the surface. It was a huge relief to see something other than the empty lake, but when I looked again, I saw that the dolphin was getting smaller. It was still there, but it wasn't swimming. It was swimming backwards. It was trying to get back into the water. I watched it for a while and then it disappeared. I didn't see it again until the next day when I was walking my daughter around the lake. I was still a little bit afraid of the water, so I didn't want to go near it that day .I later found out what it was. The truth is, it was a crocodile. The lake was full of them , and I was quite excited to find out what they were like. I took my boat out, and paddled around, waiting for one to show itself. I caught a glimpse of a crocodile tail, the water stirred by its sinuous movement, and I knew I had seen one of the most magnificent animals on earth. I jumped out of the boat, and it launched away into the water, leaving me to admire its beauty while it swam away.
