Hauser and other villagers came to attend the last lesson to express their respect and gratitude to M. Hamel for forty year long service to them. The entire village was very sad. M. Hamel had taught the people of Alsace fir forty years. He had become an integral part of their life. All the young and the old had come to attend his last class to show their respect to him. There were tears in the elderly people. They tried to learn as much as they could from their beloved teacher. Most of them were feeling quite patriotic and regretful for neglecting learning their mother tongue.

The Frenchmen had been able to hold their love for their mother tongue; however, they had failed in putting this love i practice.

It is very important to live our life with values as they help us build our character.
