SOLUTION  :

Given : 3x² + 2kx - 3 = 0

Since, x = - 1/2  is a solution of given equation, so it will satisfy the equation.

On putting x = -½  in given equation,

3x² + 2kx - 3 = 0

3(-1/2)² + 2k(-1/2) − 3 = 0

3 × ¼ - k - 3 = 0

¾ - k - 3 = 0

k = ¾ - 3

k = (3 - 12)/4

k = - 9/4

Hence, the value of k is - 9/4.
