x + 1/x = 3

On squaring both sides, we get

x^2 + 1/x^2 +2(x)(1/x) = 9

=> x^2 + 1/x^2 + 2 = 9

=> x^2 + 1/x^2 = 7

Now,

On cubing both sides, we get

x^6 + 1/ x^6 + 3 (x^2) (1/x^2) (x^2 + 1/x^2) = 343

=> x^6 + 1/ x^6 + 3 ( 7) = 343

=> x^6 + 1/ x^6 + 21 = 343

=> x^6 + 1/ x^6 = 322
