AD common

so ΔABD is congruent to ΔACD

(i) By CPCT,

angle BAD= angle CAD

so AD is bisector of angle A

(ii) By CPCT,

angle ADB= angle ADC

here BDC is a straight line

so angle ADB + angle ADC= 180

so angle ADB=angle ADC= 90

therefore AD is perpendicular to BC
