Answer: The first material used for clothing is the natural fibres obtained from both plants and animal sources. In ancient times, people used big leaves of trees, barks of trees, animal skin etc to cover their body. When man began to settle down .The study of the history of clothing and textiles traces the development, use, and availability of clothing and textiles over human history. ... Textiles can be felt or spun fibers made into yarn and subsequently netted, looped, knit or woven to make fabrics, which appeared in the Middle East during the late Stone Age. The early Indians wore fabrics made out of cotton that grew in the regions near the river Ganga. Flax is also a plant that gives natural fibres. After people began to settle in agricultural communities, they learnt to weave twigs and grass into mats and baskets. Vines, animal fleece or hair were twisted together into long strands.
