Yes it is important that the blood collected form body parts should reach the heart.

The blood that is collected is rich in carbon dioxide. If this blood does not reach the heart, the oxygen that we inhale will lot be transported to the body parts as the blood is already rich in carbon dioxide. As the cell needs oxygen to respire and break down food, the required oxygen will not be reached to the cell and the desired process will not get completed. As a result, the organism would die due to accumulation of carbon dioxide and indigestion of food.
