Answer:

generally, we write Cash when amount is less than or equal to 10,000. and above 10k, we use Bank ac. (unless ofcourse mentioned otherwise.)

so, we will use Cash for payment of the printing & stationery because the amount is less than 4,000 (even after taxes). therefore, the journal will be :

Printing & Stationery ac _dr 4,000

Printing & Stationery ac _dr 4,000Input CGST ac _dr 240

Printing & Stationery ac _dr 4,000Input CGST ac _dr 240Input SGST ac _dr 240

Printing & Stationery ac _dr 4,000Input CGST ac _dr 240Input SGST ac _dr 240 to Cash ac 4,480

Printing & Stationery ac _dr 4,000Input CGST ac _dr 240Input SGST ac _dr 240 to Cash ac 4,480(being the payment for printing & stationery subjected to 6% CGST & 6% SGST.)

Explanation:

we paid for printing & stationery because it is an expense hence on the DEBIT side of the journal.

we paid, because we purchased. and when there's tax on whatever we purchase, it is INPUT tax. hence, "input CGST & SGST" on the debit side along with the purchase made.

so the total we had to pay for printing & stationery along with taxes is 4,480 which we paid by CASH because amount isn't that big.

Cash being an asset, a reduction in it caused it to be on the credit side of the journal hence, "to cash ac 4480".
