(d) All of these

The Properties of bleaching powder is as follows:

  • It is a pale yellowish powder having a strong smell of chlorine.
  • It is soluble in cold water. The small insoluble portion left behind on dilution is the lime present in it. It is sparingly soluble in water and gives milky suspension when dissolved in water.
  • In the presence of a very small amount of dilute acid, it gives nascent oxygen. Due to the evolution of nascent oxygen, it acts as an oxidizing and bleaching agent.
  • Bleaching powder reacts with dilute acids to produce chlorine.
  • When bleaching powder is treated with an excess of a dilute, all the chlorine present in it is liberated.
