The six people who were trapped in the forest on a winter night, didn't want to give their their wood logs because they were jealous of each other. One of them was not of his church, one of them was black, one of them was rich, one of them was poor and one of them was a white woman. Each of them didn't want to give their wood log for some reason.

Thats why the poet said-

"They didn't die from the cold without,

They died from the cold within."
