Todd has failed to return the loan because of forgetfulness. This tells us that Todd is a careless and forgetful man. It means that the narrator's friend's act of borrowing a dollar and then forgetting to pay it back would not make any difference to their friendship.

Answer

(iv) Ans Todd has failed to return the loan because of forgetfulness. This tells us that Todd is a careless and forgetful man. It means that the narrator's friend's act of borrowing a dollar and then forgetting to pay it back would not make any difference to their friendship.

(v) Ans The painful thought that rather comes in the narrator's mind is that if Todd has borrowed a dollar from the narrator in similar manner the narrator would have also taken a dollar from anyone but the narrator does not want to give the dollar to the person whom he has borrowed a dollar from.
