Here,LHS =

 {(x + 2)}^{2}  =  {(x + 2)}^{2}  {(x + 2)}^{2}

 = ( {x}^{2}  + 4x + 4)(x + 2)

  = {x}^{3}  +  {2x}^{2}  +  {4x}^{2}  + 8x + 4x + 8

 =  {x}^{3}  +  {6x}^{2}  + 12x + 8

Therefore,

 {(x + 2)}^{2}  =  {x}^{3}  - 4

Can be rewritten as

 {x}^{3}  +  {6x}^{2}  + 12x + 8 =  {x}^{3}  - 4

i.e.,

 {6x}^{2}  + 12x + 12 = 0

or,

 {x}^{2}  + 2x + 2 = 0

It is in the form of=

 {ax}^{2}  + 2x + 2 = 0

 {ax}^{2}  + bx + c = 0.

So,the given equation is a quadratic equation.
