Ivan and Braxton want to know if a stretching a rubber band at different lengths affects how far the rubber band will fly. They will use centimeters for all measurements. I want to know what will be the step by step procedure for this experiment.

The rubber bands have a lot of stored elastic potential energy in them. You can measure the elastic potential energy as ½ multiplied to spring constant "k" and the square of the stretch length ("x").

So, when the rubber band is released the potential energy which is stored is converted to the kinetic energy.

There is a roughly linear relationship between the stretched length and the distance the rubber flies i.e more the length, more is the distance covered
