Step-by-step explanation:

distance 40 m

i have taken right as +ve and left as -ve

let evan speed ve = 12 mph

kate speed vk = -16 mph

at 9 :30 am evan has traveled till

12 * 1.5 = 18 miles.

remaining distance is 40 - 18

22 miles

relative speed of evan wrt kate = ve - vk

12 - (-16)

28 miles

time taken to travel the relative distance = 22/ 28

.785 hours

i.e. 47.14 minutes

so time on clock 9:30 + 47.14 min.

10: 17: 14 AM
