Answer:
Who doesn't know the connoisseur of literature, the legendary Rabindranath Tagore?
He is one of the most famous litterateurs, and his fame is well accounted for by pens more eloquent than mine. However, I think it will be appropriate to write a few words about him.
Born on 7th May, in 1861, he was an Indian polymath: poet, writer, philosopher, painter, social reformer, etc. His works were mainly in Bengali, for he spent most of his life in Bengal. He reshaped Bengali literature and music. He was mainly a poet, but his short stories also hold no ordinary merit. He described this as "rather like the state of a young lady who has many pursuers, but does not wish to lose any of them" in an interview. His poems include Gitanjali, The child, Vocation, etc. Some of his short stories are, Atithi, Darpaharan, Kabuliwala, Manihara etc. These portray human emotions with baffling truth. For these, he received the long undue and we'll deserved Nobel prize for literature in 1913. He was the first Indian to have received this coveted prize. This spread his fame worldwide.
Unfortunately, on the 7th of August, 1941, he passed away. It is believed that a cancer had caused his death.
