If the ratio of contribution is 6:4, then let us assume the numbers as 6x, 4x.

Let us assume the fund raised as y.

So according to question: 6x+4x = y          (Equation 1)

1) Given 6x = 23.700 (Obviously the person raising more fund has the larger ratio)

⇒ 6x = 23.700

⇒ x = 23.700÷6

⇒ x = 3.95     (Equation 2)

By putting the value of equation 2 in equation 1 we calculate the value of 4x i.e.

4x = 4×3.95

⇒ 4x = 15.8

The amount raised by second person is rupees 15.8

2) Total amount raised = y (From equation 1)

⇒ 6x+4x = y

⇒ 23.700 + 15.8 = y

⇒ y = 39.5

The total amount raised is rupees 39.5
