Let Jack = x

Let Jill = y

According to the question

x = 3y    ----  (i)

In 3 yrs time

Jack = x+3

Jill = 2(y+3)

⇒Jill  = 2y + 6

Acc. to the question

x + 3 = 2y + 6

⇒ x - 2y = 3    -----  (ii)

Substituting the value of equation (i) in (ii)

⇒ 3y - 2y = 3

⇒ y = 3

Putting value in equation (i)

x = 3 * 3

⇒ x = 9

∴ Jack(x) = 9 and Jill(y) = 3
