Jack is twice as old as Jill, but in five years time he will only be one and a half times as old. How old are Jack and Jill now?

Let Jill's age be x

Then Jack's age = 2x

2x + 5 = 1\frac{1}{2}( x + 5 )

2x + 5 = \frac{3x2}{y} + \frac{15}{2}

2x -\frac{3x}{2} = \frac{15}{2} - 5

\frac{x}{2}= \frac{5}{2}

x = 5

Jill is 5 years  old

Jack is 2 x 5 = 10 years old
