Explanation

The speed of the Jackrabbits is 40 miles per hour.

We know that,  1 mile = 5280 feet  and  1 hour = 3600 seconds

So, 40 miles = (40 × 5280) feet = 211200 feet

Thus.....

40 miles/hour

So, the speed of the Jackrabbits to the nearest whole number is  59 feet/second.

Given:

Speed of Jackrabbits= 40 miles per hour

1 mile= 5,280 feet

To find:

Speed of Jackrabbits in feet per second

Solution:

We can find the answer in just a few simple steps-

We know that the speed needs to be converted to feet per second from miles per hour.

So, we will convert 40 miles to feet.

1 mile= 5,280 feet

40 miles= 40× 5,280

=2,11,200 feet

We also know that 1 hour has 3600 seconds.

The speed in feet per second will be 2,11,200/ 3600

= 2,112/ 36

=58.66

On rounding off, it becomes 59 feet/ second.

Therefore, the speed of Jackrabbits is 59 feet per second.
