Let 'x' represent the money invested at 12% and 'y' the money invested at 10%.

x + y = 20000

0.12x + 0.10y = 2280

........

click here to see the system of equations solved for x and y

........

x = $14,000

y = $6,000

Jackson invested $14,000 at 12% and $6,000 at 10%.
