SOLUTION

CORRECT QUESTION

Jai Won Rs 3000 on a bet which meant he had five times more money than if he had lost Rs 3000 How much money had Jai before he won the Rs 3000?

(A) 6000

(B) 7500

(C) 4500

(D) 9000

EVALUATION

Let the amount of money Jai had before he won the Rs 3000 = Rs x

After winning the bet of Rs 3000 his money will be = Rs ( x + 3000 )

If he had lost Rs 3000 then the amount of money he had = Rs ( x - 3000 )

By the given condition

 \sf{5(x  -  3000) = (x  +  3000)}

 \sf{ \implies \: 5x  - 15000 = x  +  3000}

 \sf{ \implies \: 5x  -x =  15000  +  3000}

 \sf{ \implies \: 4x =  18000}

 \sf{ \implies \: x =  4500}

Hence the amount of money Jai had before he won the Rs 3000 = Rs 4500

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is (C) 4500
