The last amongst the long line of Tirthankara was Mahavira who belonged to sixth century BC.


Tirthankaras go through certain cycles namely Utsarpini and Avasarpini.


While in the era of Utsarpini, human morale and natural conditions improves over time whereas in the era of Avasarpini human morale and natural conditions deteriorate.
