let John is X
James =8+X
Wilson =X-10
therefore 8+X=X-10
X=10+8
X= 18
therefore James 18% toller then wilson

Kshiti78: how it comes 20%
devil73: send me correct ans Rathod
rathore73: I know the answer but i couldn't understand the steps. Equations:
james = 1.08john
w = 0.9john
-----
Note: john = w/0.9
--------------------------------
Substitute for john and solve for "james":
james = 1.08[w/0.9] = (1.08/0.9) = 1.2w
=====
Note: 1.2w = w + 0.20w

Answer:::
James is 20% taller than Wilson
rathore73: When you do problems like these, using 100 is good advice...
Thus let's call John's height 100...
Then James is 108 and Wilson is 90.
The percentage that James is taller than Wilson is given by
(108-90)/90 = 18/90 = .2 = 20%
