ANSWER:

The History of British India: 3 Volume Set

EXPLANATION:

James Mill had made vital contributions to political theory, political economy and social theory, as a Scottish economist, historian, philosopher and political theorist. In the year from 1817 to 1818, James Mill published three volume set on the ‘History of British India’, which is considered as one of greatest and important work.

This book was an instant success. Mill focused more on the historical processes than human interest. He used extensive sources instead of personal experience i.e. an objective nevertheless a critical history, to create and write, frequently making critical judgements of the nation and the people within the milieu of a broader theoretical framework.

He criticised the British’s involvement in India and their conquest, colonisation, and management, the purpose being to inspire readers to a better understanding of the historical processes, institutions, and ideaswith the aim of encouraging comprehensive reform.
