Given,

Price of 5 eraser and 1 keychain = $2.20

Price of 2 eraser and 6 keychain = $3.40

To find,

Price of 1 eraser and 1 keychain.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Let, the price of 1 eraser = $ x

And, the price of 1 keychain = $ y

According to the data mentioned in the question

5x+y = 2.20

30x+6y = 13.20....(1)

And,

2x+6y = 3.40...(2)

Subtracting (2) from (1) we get that,

30x+6y-2x-6y = 13.20-3.40

28x = 9.80

x = 0.40

(2×0.40)+6y = 3.40

0.80+6y = 3.40

6y = 2.6

y = 0.43

Total price = ($0.40+$0.43) = $0.83 = 83 cents

Hence, he had to paid approximately 83 cents
