Jammu and Kashmir is the "Paradise on Earth". It is world famous for its scenic splendour,
snow-capped mountains, plentiful wildlife, exquisite monuments, hospitable people and local
handicrafts. It is a home to pristine lakes, stunning gardens, ancient temples and monasteries.
The small-scale and cottage industries of the region produce the best carpets, silks, shawls,
basketry, pottery, copper and silverware, papier-mâché and walnut wood carvings.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Students are required to prepare this trans-disciplinary project using A4 sheets, writing
materials, colouring materials-colour pencils, colour pastels and materials like newspapers,
old clothes, unused bindhis, bangles, buttons, paper cups, ice cream spoons, used match
sticks, sharpener waste, cereals, pulses, quilling papers, colour papers, pebbles, play-doh
and any such items that are readily available at home to decorate the project in an
innovative manner.
2. This project is given to kindle the imagination and creativity of every student and to see, if
there is a proper understanding of a given topic from the perspective of various subjects. A
few reference websites are given for topics, in which help is required, to get an idea of doing
the project. Other websites can also be referred.
3. A4 sheets can be attached together in the form of a scrap book using glue.
4.The students are expected to browse the Internet, collect the necessary information and
suitable pictures and present an error-free project.
5. Students can design the borders of each page in a unique style, according to the given topic.
The page border designs can be made by taking inspiration from the patterns and designs
of Jammu and Kashmir. Browse for simple paisley border designs or simple mandala
border designs on the internet to design such page borders.
