Jan Ingenhousz Photosythesis experience :

  1. In this experiment Jan took a burning candle in a closed space a bell jar and kept a mouse inside it , with a mint plant inside it .
  2. He placed the bell jar once in the dark and ones in the sunlight .
  3. He showed that sunlight is essential to the plant process which purify the air followed by burning candle or breathing animals . ( At day time ) .
  4. Now Jan performed same experiment with an aquatic plant .
  5. He said that in bright sunlight small bubbles where found around green plant while in the dark they do not form .
  6. Later he identified these bubbles as oxygen .

  • Only the green parts of the plant could release oxygen during day or in presence of a any light .
