Jason won some goldfish at the state fair. During the first week, 1/5 of them
died, and during the second week, 8/3of those still alive at the end of the first
week died. What fraction of the original goldfish were still alive after two

Answer:  1/2

hope it helps u

Step-by-step explanation:

Well to make life easy we don't need to know how many Jason actually won. We'll just say 10 since that makes the math that follows super easy.

Turn 10 into a fraction and multiply by 1/5 to see how many died that first week

10/1×1/5=10/5=2

10–2=8 left after one week

3/8 of the surviving fish die the second week so we repeat to see how many died the second week

8/1×3/8=24/8=3

8–3=5

So 5 left after 2 weeks. To express that as a fraction we convert them both to fractions and divide

5/1÷10/1=?

Which is the same as

5/1×1/10=5/10=1/2

So after 2 weeks 1/2 of the goldfish have survived
