Given :

Velocity of tractor 1 = V₁

Velocity of tractor 2 = V₂

Angle between velocities = α

To find :

Resultant velocity of the box = ?

Solution :

  • Let the resultant velocity of the box be Vr
  • From Triangular law of forces,The resultant velocity is given by

      Vr = √(V₁²+V₂²+2V₁V₂cos∅)

  • By substituting the values

      Vr = √(V₁²+V₂²+2V₁V₂cosα)

The resultant velocity of the box is Vr = √(V₁²+V₂²+2V₁V₂cosα)
