Let the age of Jaya and Geeta be x and 2x respectively.

Five years ago -

Their ages -

Jaya's age = (x - 5)

Geeta's age = (2x - 5)

According to the question,

⇛ 3(x - 5) = (2x - 5)

⇛ 3x - 15 = 2x - 5

⇛ 3x - 2x = -5 + 15

⇛ x = 10

The value of x = 10

• Jaya's age = x = 10 years
• Geeta's age = 2x = 2 × 10 = 20 years

Five years ago.

x-5 = 3y-15

x-3y+10 = 0

=> -y = -10

=> y = 10

Therefore, Present Age of Geeta = 10 years
