Given:

Jayne has 4 gallons of gas.

The total amount of gasoline= y

The amount of gasoline she added in = x

To find :

The most suitable equation.

Solution:

Jayne has 4 gallons of gas.

The total amount of gasoline= y

The amount of gasoline she added in = x

making an equation

y = 4 + x

y is the total amount of gasoline.

4 gallons were already present in the car

x is the amount of gasoline that Jayne added.

Since the total amount of gasoline is y then the equation will be 4 + x as it is the quantity that was present at first and the quantity that was added later.

The correct answer is (A)

y = 4 + x
