  • Carnival is a festive season occurring before lent, usually around February or March. In this event people wear colorful masks and costumes and participate in a parade, which contains elements of a circus and a street party. Historians say they believe the first "modern" Caribbean Carnival originated in Trinidad and Tobago in the late 18th century when a flood of French settlers brought the Fat Tuesday masquerade party tradition with them to the island, although Fat Tuesday celebrations were almost certainly taking place at least a century.

  • Setsubun is the day before the beginning of spring in Japan. The name literally means 'seasonal division', but usually the term refers to the spring Setsubun, properly called Risshun celebrated yearly on February 3 as part of the Spring Festival. In keeping in line with other traditions that are practiced around this time of year, the purpose of celebrating Setsubun is also one of cleaning and purification. The day is used to drive demons and evil spirits out of one's home with the help of roasted soybeans.

  • Songkran is the Thai New Year's national holiday. Songkran is on the 13 April every year, but the holiday period extends from 14 to 15 April. In 2018 the Thai cabinet extended the festival nationwide to five days, 12–16 April, to enable citizens to travel home for the holiday. Thailand celebrates Buddhist new year with water fights. Thais are celebrating this year's Songkran festival, also known as the Buddhist New Year.

  • The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival celebrated notably by the Chinese people. It relates to Chuseok and Tsukimi. It is also practiced in the Southeast Asian country Vietnam. The Mid-Autumn Festival, or Mooncake Festival, is traditionally celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. This year, it falls on Oct 4. The festival, dating back to ancient China, pays homage to the moon and good harvest.
